TMA Officers and Committee Chairs
Hello TMA parents!
Spring is here! It is an exciting time of year for our Nashua North's Music Department. The chorus and concert band continue to practice their craft for upcoming concerts. The success of the Music program not only depends on the students and directors but also on the support of the parents. The Titans Music Association is looking for members from both chorus and band to serve on the board for the 2011-2012 school year. We are also in the process of forming committees that you may be interested in including fundraising, volunteer coordinator, publicity and performance clothing. As you can see, it takes a lot of people to keep the music department going. Please consider either joining us as a board member or committee member.
Elections for next year's officers and board members will be held at the May TMA meeting. All officer positions are open, as are at-large Board Members:
President: The President presides over monthly meetings, acts as a liaison between our organization and the high school Music Department, is the board chairman and oversees all TMA committees. Additionally, the President acts as a public representative of our organization within the greater Nashua community.
Vice-President: The Vice President stands in for the President for all official duties in case of absence. The Vice President oversees fundraising events throughout the year to benefit the TMA. Approximately 4-6 fundraising events are held throughout the year to benefit the general fund, the scholarship fund and individual student accounts.
Recording Secretary: The Recording Secretary is responsible for maintaining complete and accurate minutes of monthly TMA meetings, including any motions and votes taking place, and presenting them at monthly meetings. They are also responsible for conducting any written or electronic correspondence on behalf of the TMA.
Treasurer: The Treasurer maintains the TMA bank account records, deposits proceeds from TMA fundraising events and issues checks for TMA purchases and donations. The treasurer also maintains committee ledgers and generates monthly budget status reports for TMA meetings. The Treasurer is responsible for disbursement of student account funds and TMA scholarships. This position requires a commitment of a few hours per month, plus an additional few hours for each fundraising event and to assemble end-of-the-year documents for the accountant who prepares our tax returns. Skills required include the ability to keep accurate records and to balance a checking account.
At-large Board Members: Members, who serve on the TMA board of director's work with the officers to make decisions regarding the direction of the group, develop the annual budget, fund special projects, etc. The time commitment is attendance at the TMA Monthly Meetings as well as a few "as needed" meetings over the course of the school year. (These may be held in conjunction with our regular monthly meetings or on additional dates.) There are 4 Directors nominated to the board each year.
Webmaster: Messages and information from the officers and board are brought to online parents, students and the public via this website and social networking applications.
